Georgia Power Company and the Home Park neighborhood came together in search of the best way to build a power substation at one of the neighborhood’s most vibrant intersections. The design that emerged from much collaboration draws on the neighborhood’s unique qualities: small houses on rolling terrain beneath towering oaks. To capture a sense of the neighborhood, the design features a corner plaza with an illuminated pavilion in front of a masonry wall patterned to resemble a stand of trees, showing off the power company’s principal product and highlighting the feel of the neighborhood of small houses nestled among trees.
